the band
Founded in 2022 during the recording of Fernando Schirr's first album, Vento is a Brazilian music band based on the border between France (Strasbourg) and Germany (Kehl).
The album, co-produced by the Italian pianist Davide Petrillo –who also signs several tracks – marks the culmination of a long-standing artistic collaboration between the two friends. It inspired the creation of a collective of artists dedicated to producing and performing their compositions.
Thus, the band Vento was born, featuring vocalists and multi-instrumentalists Fernando Schirr, Davide Petrillo, Maugane Ginger, alongside guitarist Benjamin Velle, bassist Davide Le Léap, and drummer Juan Camilo Roldán. The group's live performances are further enriched by frequent collaborations with singer and percussionist Nelsinho Félix, as well as flautist and pianist Damien Groleau.
Their repertoire of original songs spans an array of rhythms, including samba, bossa nova, maxixe, frevo, baião, ijexá, ciranda, and maracatu, offering a captivating journey into Brazilian music.
Whether weaving social and political commentary, celebrating life, or exploring the complexities of love, Vento crafts diverse atmospheres that evoke a spectrum of emotions. Their music invites audiences not only to dance but also to close their eyes and be transported through the rich soundscapes of Brazil.
Inspired by the vibrant rhythms of Brazilian music, the artists – hailing from four different nationalities – seamlessly blend their musical styles, infusing a jazzy energy into their compositions and performances.
This is how traditional music becomes the starting point for an adventure in search of new styles and sounds, and Vento transforms into a collective experience of creation and multicultural expression.
Vento is currently producing a new album of unreleased songs, which will be released in 2025.
