Vento, 2022
Vento marks Fernando Schirr's debut album, released in September 2022. It was co-produced by the talented Italian pianist Davide Petrillo, who also contributed to several tracks. This album is a heartfelt homage to the rich tradition of Brazilian popular music, showcasing a vibrant array of rhythms, including samba, maxixe, baião, bossa nova, and maracatu.
The songs reflect the diversity of human experience and weave social and political criticism, denouncing injustice and calling for change. They also illuminate the most intimate side of existence, singing of love, life, and "saudade", a Portuguese word that means a sad state of intense longing for someone or something absent.
The inception of Vento took place in 2020 during the height of the pandemic, as Davide Petrillo and Fernando Schirr found themselves sharing a home in Kehl, Germany. Inspired by a spirit of collaboration, the two friends began exchanging their musical ideas with Brazilian and Italian musicians, who, confined to their home studios, joined the creative process remotely.
Notable contributions came from Brazilian artists such as Chico Saraiva, Ricardo Vignini, Carlinhos Ferreira, Vitor Gontijo, and Renato Anesi, along with Italian musicians Stefano Aiolli, Alessandro Patti, and Alessandro Tomei.
It was in Strasbourg in 2022 that Vento truly came to life. With the involvement of musicians Davide Le Léap, Nelsinho Felix, Maugane Ginger, Benjamin Velle, Damien Groleau, and Nathan Adenot, the recordings at Romain Muller’s Studio NAC took on a vibrant energy.
Upon its release, the album garnered attention in Brazil, featured on stations such as Rádio Roquette Pinto, Rádio USP, and Brasil. It has since gained recognition on the airwaves of the esteemed French radio station FIP, further solidifying its impact.
